My sister and brother-in-law came to visit this weekend. Last night we went out for a little celebration.
We went to my favorite Italian restaurant downtown, La Gratta. It’s entrance is on the corner and it’s actually a basement restaurant. You don’t even miss windows when you’re there. It’s an old world type atmosphere, with exposed brick walls and antiques. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin music playing in the background.
The food is to die for, especially the pastas. We had a great meal with great conversation and then headed to a wine bar to hear some live music.
The Barrel Thief is also a nice little place. It doesn’t hold but about 15 or so small tables. They sell wine to the public, so when you order a bottle of wine at the table, it’s not marked up and there is no corkage fee.
Last night they had a Cuban flamenco guitarist, who was quite good. The music was not so loud that you couldn’t hear each other talk, which was nice for someplace with live music. Scuba Man and I really like flamenco, and the sis & bro-in-law liked it too.
It was an awesome night in Rivertown.
