Another Christmas day has come and gone. A special celebration, with weeks and weeks of preparation, is over in a flash.
It was a wonderful day here at our beach home. The “kids” were up at about 6:00 AM, as Willow needed to go out. As we were fixing coffee, she managed to find the solitary gift under the tree that was hers and proceeded to rip off the paper. It’s a Kong Wabba and has become her favorite toy. Pockets had the usual cat attitude, wouldn’t open any of the gifts in his stocking, letting Willow do it instead.
Coffee in hand, we opened our stockings to see what Santa had left for us. Then it was opening our gifts. I must have been a good girl this year, as Santa gave me what I wanted, a lens for my camera! Also, lots of camera accessories. Santa was good to Scuba Man, too, bringing him a lot of what he asked for. Some of it though, Santa couldn’t find and the elves didn’t make. But all in all, we both were very happy.
Willow was especially. That little beagle loves wrapping paper! We would open up a gift, ball up the paper, and throw it. She would then tear at it until it was in shreds. It made one huge mess but it was worth it to see her so happy! It also gave Pockets something to bat around. Dog toys – $20, cat toys – $15, watching them play with the wrapping paper – priceless!
The breakfast casserole I had made the night before and the turkey were popped in the oven. Desserts were made as Willow and Daddy took a walk on the beach. Reading and napping, for all four of us, filled the afternoon, along with me trying out my new lens. Then it was on to both of us cooking in our tiny kitchen while trying to keep the animals out from underfoot. A delicious turkey dinner, followed by yummy desserts and watching Christmas Story. Fa ra ra ra ra!
The wonderful day ended with watching the Green Bay Packers win their football game and the four of us snuggled off to bed. It was a perfect day of celebrating the birth of Jesus.
